Thrunite Tn36. Review-Comparative (Niwalker Nova Mm15, Olight Sr Mini, Dqg 26650).

Prior Considerations.

To summarize the main novelties of the DQG26650 v2 with respect to the previous version are as follows:

In relation to the TN36, it arrives in a consistent Thrunite carton, with engravings of the mark in color and the main specifications on one side. Inside the box there are foam to prevent damage to the Lantern, which perfectly hosted comes with pouch, instruction manual, warranty, spare o ring and a sachet of moisture. Lantern is also protected with a plastic protector whose main function seems to avoid friction in the Lantern. In my case the TN36 came seasoned with a small AAA it (very good, some illustrious fellow forum has asked it and knowing the review that are marked, for sure that soon we will have it described in depth), but have failed to know if they put it in the topic because they bought at the same time, it came from gift, or it was a kit for sale with two headlights.

Build Quality and Appearance.

In terms of aesthetics, everyone will have their opinion. Mine is that the TN36 is very attractive, the SR Mini is elegant but sosa, the DQG seems to me to be pretty, and Nova thus does not become beautiful, nor is not ugly… the Nova is missing or extra something. (Again, it is my personal opinion)

Measures.

Thrunite reflected as one of the most important elements in your model compact design. A multiled, multibateria of small, portable, size that fits in a coat pocket. If compared with the other three our sites that we are looking at here could make objections to this assertion, but if we compare it with other multiled of lower powers that are in the market with much success, can say for certain that Thrunite is correct in the description.
In my personal experience say that both the TN36 and Nova and the SRMini seem very comfortable carry our sites. Possible differences in size not think they are very relevant, but positions to choose from, in terms of portability, I prefer the size of the Nova.

In relation to the weight, the TN36 is the heaviest of the four (batteries included), but is in line with other models with a well earned reputation for multiled powerful and compact. Nova ahead you, provided that we do not atornillemos the handle which brings as an accessory (may be useful, but is short. I have to take with three fingers and a half). At this point the Mini has something in its favor, it is considerably less heavy. However, I have to say that both the TN36 and Nova are comfortable carry our sites. It is basically the same in weight which carried a Sky Ray King as seen in the photos.

Interface And Use.

In this section the TN36 follows a scheme similar to the Nova. It seems simple and consistent taking into account the characteristics of the our site. Click on the button and turn on, long press and we go up modes until the cycle repeats. To gain access to the turbo is a double quick click from any mode, and after pressing again returns to mode from which you agreed to the turbo. The sling can be accessed from the mode turbo with double click. To access the mode firefly button is held from the off position. It has memory modes. All perfect except for a mistake in my opinion, although I do not use it never. The power button is very difficult to be activated if only, but not impossible, and lantern has no lock (or I do not see how to activate it or in the instructions or on the web). This for many people will be a point in favor of the Nova.

In terms of modes, in addition to the special (strobe, Firefly and Turbo) has 3, and I think that very well distributed. The Nova on the paper distributes them best, but when it comes to the truth I like more the TN36 makes it.

Since the review of the DQG is version 1, I briefly commented the functioning of version 2 it seems to change. The DQG version 2.0 requires pressing a second to turn on (2 in the v1), and each new press is a change of mode. To gain access to the turbo in the three performed a double quick click, and after pressing again returns to mode from which you agreed to the turbo. You still have memory of modes.

In the section on use, I think that the four have easy and intuitive, almost identical interface on the TN36 and Nova, and very different on to the Mini, but just as simple. A notable difference is that the TN36 heated less than the Nova. The latter using it in mode high takes temperature, not reaching to burn, but I also have to say that these nights here has made cold to fill a sack. I have the feeling that we will have to go down to mode 4 heat in normal use with a slightly higher temperature. On the other hand, in the mode turbo Step down of both is by temperature.

As for dyes, in my units the Nova is warmer than the TN36, although in this, you can also choose a warm tint. Apart from the differences that appear in the images taken, which always vary somewhat tonality in relation to reality, I quite like the two, especially that of the Nova. Aside from the projection that we will discuss later, in mode turbo subjective perception indicates a superiority of the TN36.

Projection.

The TN36 is a ultrainundadora our site. For testing of screening in the first place I thought to do as other times, a projection at a short distance from the wall. I try to always take out images of various headlights at the same time, so clearly appreciate the differences, but as the TN36 and Nova have a very large projection, I had to approach too wall lanterns, being an irrelevant image.

Then I did the photo only with the TN36 and Nova with a separation of about inch cm, which can be used to see which is the projection difference between them. The projections are very different against the wall. In the open field they are not so, but there are also differences, most noticeable in low modes. This type of lanterns throwing light into all the sites have the drawback that require many lumens because the area light is very wide. This addition is accentuated in the nova above the TN36 because its beam is less marked, and causes in open field and low modes, let’s be more uncomfortable by walking that you using the TN36, and finish by touching the button and going up to the higher modes. In the TN36 and its stronger beam (in relation to the Nova), we will be able to walk comfortably with how low. In the SRMini since its flood area is much smaller, and to its diffuser lens that evenly disperses light, in low modes you can walk very well.

Medium and high modes both the Nova and the TN36 will cover all our lighting needs before our more than 100 meters, and w it a lot of meters also. In the case of the nova, with those two sidebars that can be seen in the image, we will achieve a greater angle on the projection, with a slightly less illuminated area that would correspond in the picture to the division between the central beam and side stripes. The TN36 will illuminate closer to the feet, many meters across, but angle is not as open as in the Nova (narrowly).

To compare with other lanterns, after selecting good projection inundadoras, including a K40 and the novel P36, look for another wider wall, and located the tripod around 25 cm from the wall. The camera is in manual mode and with the same parameters for all of them. The images speak for themselves projection difference between Nova, La TN36 and other our sites with good inundadoras reputation.

Relative Potency Test.

Using my light box has been recalculated if the percentage of intensity of each mode corresponds to the data offered by the brand. In relation to the TN36 after analyzing the data, these coincide with a difference of less than 2% in each of the modes. Thus, if we assume how certain the lumens of the high mode specified by the brand, is has estimated the lumen of each mode and represented in the graph. It should be recalled that this estimate is made assuming how certain maximum value in specified lumens Thrunite and the value according to Ansi/Nema FL1 criteria of the light box (not I can measure lumens because this requires an integrating sphere).

Regarding the via Nova the same procedure we obtain that the results are also in the same line of accuracy than the Thrunite, except in mode bass, in which the intensity of the Nova is higher than the established by the mark. Eye, you can see that this our site in this mode delivers well over the 6 lumens which should deliver.

With regard to the SR Mini, since the mark test used 6 CR123A that deliver more voltage than 18650 3 and this can affect in a small percentage results. That is why in addition to estimating lumen, assuming the maximum value offered by the mark (green bar), has been included a third bar performed an estimate by the calculation of adjustment of the percentage of the rest of modes offered by the brand to those obtained by the light box, and estimating the maximum lumens of the SRMINI. In this case this procedure the lumens estimated each so curiously coincide with those established by O light in each mode.(Although it seems perfectly square, it is an estimate and not a measurement of lumens, which would be more correct).

The DQG is also regulated in high mode. The turbo has a ste down for a time operated as indicated by the manufacturer. With a 5000 mAh 26650 theoreticians that is really around 4500 get more than 2.5 hours in high mode.

In the SRMINI the turbo has the limit temporary capacity that we have to continuously maintain the switched. It is perfectly regulated and as I mentioned in the review.

The TN36 is a wonderful our site. Construction of quality in all aspects, regulation magnificent, awe-inspiring power, good autonomy. I swear that in the design process have been taken into account strengths and weaknesses of the Nova because it presents almost all its virtues and almost none of their defects. Yet like everything in this life can be improved. You would have to know why they have not put a location to install a lanyard, for example and the absence of lock push button is not understandable. The third but that it may have this our site is its price, although its direct rival is on the same segment.

Would that buy TN36 or NOVA? As for tastes the colors that go ahead. I explain below which consider points clearly in favor or against the TN36 in relation to NOVA. Perhaps all together, look very similar, but they are really small details. Leave aside clearly subjective aspects such as the preference for the type of anodized, dyes, cosmetic, etc… They are reflected in the review and everyone it will take them as a point in favor or against according to their desires. On the other hand what for my can be a plus (as Regulation), for others can be a point against.

Thus for the same price, I would recommend the TN36. Because if we get the Nova as you can get in some sites, I would buy the Nova. Then already come into play more subjective elements.
